HOW OLD MUST YOU BE TO BECOME A MEMBER?

You may join at any age, however to fire weapons if you are under 16 years of a= ge must be

by permission of Parent or Guardian and Commanding Officer (Hunter Safety Cour= se Certified is a plus).

Younger members may be admitted on an individual basis in a non-firing capacity,

WILL I NEED TO GET MY UNIFORM(s) or CLOTHING IMMEDIATELY = ?

No, but try to be in a basic uniform or civilian clothing and have your basic accouterments within a year. We do have a Quartermaster supply of loaner clothes and some gear to help you get started until you can acquire your ow= n.

WILL I NEED TO ATTEND EVERY EVENT TO REMAIN A MEMBER ?
No, in this unit it is not required. Family matters, school and work take precedence.

Attend what you can when you are able.

WHAT IS THIS UNIT INVOLVED IN ?

This unit participates in educational activities, dedications, parades, living history events and encampments, memorial services.

HOW STRICT ARE YOU ABOUT AUTHENTICITY AND UNIT POLICY = ?

We try to be as authentic as possible, no modern items are used in the open vi= ew of the public…..only when necessary.

WHAT ABOUT DUES ?

Annual Dues at present is $30 per individual per year or $45 per family per year. = This helps cover the cost of liability insurance and business expenses.

ARE WOMEN ALLOWED TO PORTRAY SOLDIERS ?

YES. In this unit, women may portray a soldier of the Military as long as they m= ake an attempt to disguise themselves as male. Please view the page on hints to disguise yourself.

CAN I PORTRAY MORE THAN ONE ROLE ?

Yes. You may portray any or all soldier and civilian roles if you wish.

If you have a specialty to show, all the better.=

· IS THAT A REAL (FIRE, SWORD, GUN, ETC…) ?

Our charter, and basic practice, is= what is known as "living history". When we are encamped we strive to l= ive our lives exactly as life was lived at the time. Our uniforms are heavy wool cut to the same pattern as the originals, and the ladies dresses are of sim= ilar materials and made to the same patterns as were worn at the time. The weapo= ns (for the most part) are replicas, made to the same specifications as the originals - and operate in the same fashion. We cook our meals over open wo= od fires. We use utensils, pots, pans, and mugs of styles and types as close a= s we can manage to those available at the time we are portraying.

· = HOW DID YOU GET STARTED DOING THIS ?=

Some people have joined out of a lo= ve of history. Some have joined because it seemed like a really fun idea to play = war with real guns and black powder. People reenact out of an enjoyment of hist= ory, or an enjoyment of role-playing, or perhaps a love of camping. Whatever the reason, we're here to have fun - and if as a side effect we can provide some insight into life in our country's history, so much the better.
