About Us
Welcome !
We are an independent American Civil War Era Living History group based in Blair County Pennsylvania with members from throughout the state. Formed in 2007 as a family oriented
Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization, our goal is to re-create the life and times of these men and women through reenactments, educational activities and historic displays at public events. To teach the public the history of early America and the struggles it endured.
Here you will find friendly, like-minded, open and honest people who treat each other as equals. This is our hobby, we try to make it fun and relaxing, however we do take it seriously and are VERY safety conscience, but have fun and enjoy it as well.
We are dedicated to preserving the history of what we portray. We do this for the public.
To teach, demonstrate and educate. To pass on the knowledge and legacy in hopes that someday it will be carried on by those who have learned from it and pass it on to others. Everyone in this organization has something to offer in one way or another. We attempt to give the public a "hands on" approach of what it was like in those times by getting them involved in what we are doing. Question and answer sessions, handling of various equipment and artifacts, drilling with the troops, etc. Some of our members give First Person portrayals for the public.
We strive to be the number one Civil War Living History group in our area, where people will enjoy what they see and experience and will ask for us specifically to put on an encampment for their event. Everything we do is well researched by our members, and they do their best to make an accurate period portrayal of what they do. We are not your ordinary typical reenactment group. We have a lot going on to see and do. Not just out on the field with soldiers, but in camp as well. There is always something to see or talk about.
We are not just about re-creating the war. There was a lot more going on during that time than just soldiers fighting battles and we attempt to encompass some of that as well. Some examples of that are Civilian life on the homefront, newspaper correspondants, spies, soldier's life at home and on the front lines, carpetbaggers, clergy, medical and others. We are more than just the military and battles.
In our camp, we portray a static, Garrison type camp setting, and to the best of our ability attempt to make it as authentic as we possibly can given our own personal finances, comfort level and circumstance. Our general time frame that we represent, but not limited to, is 1862 to 1864 with a focus on early to mid 1863 (Chancellorsville to Gettysburg).
Our Military represents the Union Army of the Potomac in general with a component of a Union Infantry Company recognized by The Colonel Crowther Foundation for living history and reenacting as Company "A" of the 110th Pennsylvania Volunteers, "Tyrone Infantry". Historically, this unit was raised in the Blair County Pennsylvania area. Our infantry crew is trained according to Casey's Infantry Tactics and School of the Soldier.
In addition, we have representation of the Union Army Signal Corps, United States Sharpshooters, a working Field Hospital, an active Chaplain and a Civilian contingent with a wide variety of portrayals.
We have full liability insurance of $2m.
We would love to come to your town, school or event to put on a Living History encampment. We are also currently recruiting Reenactor's & Living Historians, seasoned or beginners, and would love to have you in our organization.
